U.K. Vogue guest-editor Meghan Markle’s September snooze-a-thon of “changemakers”: Jacinda Ardern, Michelle Obama (again), and Greta “Why Isn’t She in School?” Thunberg

July 29, 2019
And Jane Fonda! And Jane Goodall, too! Wow!
Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, has been revealed as British Vogue’s guest editor of what is considered the magazine’s most important issue of the year, the September edition….
Instead, the front of the magazine will feature 15 women who are “trailblazing changemakers, united by their fearlessness in breaking barriers”, according to Buckingham Palace.
Lest you think that Her Royal Highness has any original ideas for who ought to qualify as a “trailblazing changemaker,” the duchess hastens to disabuse you:
In keeping with the edition’s theme, which is “forces for change”, the duchess has assembled women including the actor Jane Fonda, the climate change campaigner Greta Thunberg, the prime minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern, and the model Christy Turlington Burns.
Gee, I can’t wait to read yet another article about Jacinda Ardern.
And then there’s Greta Thunberg, the annoying Swedish 15-year-old who, instead of going to school, gets to travel around the world hectoring parliaments about how we will all die unless we quit using fossil fuels.
Plus:
Inside the magazine, Meghan, who has worked on the project for seven months, recounts a candid conversation between herself and Michelle Obama, and interviews the renowned ethologist and primatologist Dr Jane Goodall.
Michelle Obama…again and again.
Plus (according to People):
Also featured are The Good Place actress and body positivity advocate Jameela Jamil, whose campaign Meghan’s Sussex Royal Instagram account recently followed, and author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, who caught Meghan’s eye in December, when she attended a discussion between Adichie and former First Lady Michelle Obama in London….
Rounding out the group of women is model and refugee Adut Akech, boxer Ramla Ali, Crazy Rich Asians star Gemma Chan, advocate and Orange Is the New Black star Laverne Cox….
Because you can’t have a Vogue issue about women who are changemakers without Laverne Cox. Trans women are the ultimate changemakers.
